What is FFA all about?

National FFA Organization Mission Statement:

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.


Paynesville Area FFA Mission Statement:

Paynesville Area FFA is a student run leadership organization honoring agricultural opportunities hand in hand with our community.


FFA Opportunities

Agriscience Awards – application of scientific principles and emerging technologies in agricultural enterprises

Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) – a project where you keep records of an agricultural thing you own or work you do on the farm, community, job, etc. (Needed to attain proficiency and other awards and scholarships). Examples: owning cattle, milking, lawn mowing, working at grocery store, floral shop, golf course, crop farming, construction, selling: feed, farm equipment, farm insurance, etc.

Proficiency Awards – excellence recognition of SAE project
Scholarships – local, state, and national
Star Awards –
outstanding members

Career Development Events (CDE) – develop technical knowledge, judgment, reasoning, and sportsmanship Judging: Dairy, General Livestock, Horse, Poultry; Contests: Fish and Wildlife, Ag Mechanics, Job Interview, Ag Sales, Speaking, Dairy Products, Meats, Forestry, Soils, Small Animals, Floriculture, etc.

  3. Graduated: St. James High School in 2000, U of MN - Twin Cities in 2004; I am currently working on my Masters of Education through the U of M - Twin Cities for Agricultural Education.

  6. Favorite FFA Event(s): Officer Retreat, Conventions, but everything else that the members enjoy

Non-FFA Activities: Ag Teacher, Softball, Travel, Read, Cross-Stitch, 4-Wheeling and hanging out with my husband Corey, Work out; in high school I was in tennis, wrestling stats, softball, choir, band, drama, national honor society, FFA, 4-H, pork ambassador, and worked at Hardees (I was never home).

  13. Would you believe it, but once I...had to re-learn how to walk.
  14. Interesting fact about me: I was a pork ambassador for Watonwan County and got the "Congeniality Award" at the State Ambassador Competition.
  15. Future Plans: Enjoy being married (June 13, 2009) and being a mother to our almost 2 year old daughter Azalea. We live on an 80-acre farm outside of Paynesville. We have chickens, 1 sheep, goats (pigmy and fainting), and kittens.
