           Our purpose for doing this project is to help inform others about famous Spanish people. And to help them find other sites with more information.

Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar
1.   It is unknown for sure when Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar was born but historians think it is some where between 1040 and 1043. The Moors gave him the name El Cid meaning lord or chief. Almost immediately after he was named El Cid he became regarded as the national hero of Castile. El Cid died in Valencia in 1099. His body was returned to Burgos and was buried in a monastery.

JUAN GRIS

1.   Juan Gris was a Spanish pintor meaning painter and sculptor. He was born on March 23, 1887. He lived and worked in France for most of his life. His works are closely connected to the emergence of an innovative artistic genre of cubism. He died on May 11, 1927.

Queen Isabella I
 
1.   Isabella was born April 22,1451. Isabella’s father died when she was 3. She is often referred to as La Católica meaning The Catholic. That name was given to her by the Spanish Pope, Alexander VI. After her brother died in 1474 she was declared Queen of Castile. She died on November 26, 1504.

Miguel de Cervantes
 
1.   Miguel de Cervantes was a poet and wrote plays. He is also famoso meaning famous for writing Don Quixote. He was born in Spain in 1547. He was the son of a surgeon. Though not much is known about his childhood it is thought that he traveled from town to town as a young child following his father who searched for work. He died in Madrid on April 23, 1616.
